This small oil painting was inspired by our hike down to the ocean on the Tennessee Valley Trail in California. The day was pure magic and I can hardly wait to go back.

Kite Runner, 30"x35" by Victoria Kloch
This is my latest painting in my new on-going series of white-line hard edge abstract abstract. After painting hard edge geometrics for the past 10 years I had the nagging desire to create with more fluid, organic shapes. After a year of putting it off, I surrendered to whatever it is that puts these ideas in my brain. I now I can't paint them fast enough before I have a new one going in my mind. Fortunately I can paint these in between my commission work and it feels so liberating to have that passion back. Thank you, Victoria #Minimalism #hardedgegeometric #whitelinegeometric #stellainspired Transcend II - 36"x60" - Commissioned by Hickok Cole Architects | Washington, DC Architect Firm. This was one of two paintings for the Fort Totten Community Center. I painted this piece like a watercolor with thin glazes of acrylic on canvas . Giclee prints of this piece are available.
Atomic Tiki - 22"x30" watercolor by Victoria Kloch - 2017
This piece of retro mania is a mid century style watercolor on 300 lb. weight watercolor paper. I used my favorite watercolor Prussian blue and black ink to frame the geometric shapes. This piece as deckled torn edges and would look really cool placed under glass on top of the background board framing to show off the edges of this beautiful watercolor paper. Goin to the Go-Go - 32"x20" acrylic on canvas by Victoria Kloch
If the universe gave me the choice as to which decade I could grow up in, that would be easy for me to pick. It is the exact same one that it gave me. When I was little I got to experience the fifties first hand. The atomic retro ads and signs had to have been the coolest! Our mohair davenport with geometric patterns and Bark cloth drapes. Jackson Pollack's design had influence all kinds of household accessories. Even though I was too young to wear a bee hive up-do and a pencil skirt, I still remember feeling jealous of the older girls who did. Coming into my pre-teens in the mid 60's. White Go-Go boots, stir-up ski pants and let's not forget the hot pants were all the rage and of couse I had to have them too. Those times must have had held the magic because to this day they still hold a strong influence in design. If you were smart enough to hang on to pieces of Emes furniture or an Eichler home or anything for that matter within this era, today they now carry a high price tag. What is your favorite decade? A Sandy Path - 8"x10" oil painting by Victoria Kloch The beaches along the coast of California are breathtaking. This sandy trail in Pescadero was lined with wind swept tall grasses that I could not resist painting. My lastest piece of artwork is 'Hollow Bean' 40"x40" with white lines. The painting below 'Wind' 36"x36" is also a white line abstract. Their design is strong with the movement of a neutral palette directed with it's white lines. I'm over the top excited and looking forward to creating similar works. My World - 5"x7" watercolor abstract by Victoria Kloch - 2014 Sold
I don't know how other painters feel, but for me each painting documents periods of time. When I came upon this painting on my sold page, the name really stood out to me. This small little painting has a really big name. My World suggest something very personal. Perhaps when I named it, it was more about the process at least that's what comes to my mind as I look at it four years down the road. On that particular day, it was about purple, yellow and green. Somehow, it was those colors on that day back in 2014 that made my day a little brighter. Tower - 24"x36" - acrylic on canvas abstract painting by Victoria Kloch - Sold
When I started to paint this piece I had nothing in mind other than my color palette. These colors aren't my usual colors, but I had a lot of paint left over from a previous commission. With a lot of layering and a bit of this and that I created 'Tower'. It ended up having some very cool textures and layering. Happy to say it found a home soon after. Autumn Lights - 9"x12" watercolor with gold ink by Victoria Kloch - Sold
I've been going through some of my older pieces and I came across Autumn Lights. I forgot how much I liked this one. I have some beautiful large watercolor paper waiting for a project. I think it's calling my name and requesting something like this. Just Right - 36"x36" color field abstract painting by Victoria Kloch
Painted with aqua, white and gray across the canvas with vertical and horizontal movement. Even with color field painting an artist must know when to stop. This is it, just right. |
