The Monarch. I am sharing my first watercolor painting of endangered butterflies. When you think of the butterfly what comes to mind? For me it is spiritual rebirth, transformation, creativity, endless potential, light hearted joy, change, ascension, and an ability to experience a life of freedom. The cycle of the butterfly in itself holds spiritual symbolism and insight for us. Birthed from an egg the butterfly lives it's early life as a caterpillar. It then retreats within the chrysalis where it undergoes a transformation to immerge from the chrysalis to be reborn as a beautiful winged creature known as the butterfly. #protectfreedomofspeech #protectthefirstamendment  The original paintings sold a while back. I now have available both in Giclee prints. I just had a client purchase both 30"x40" prints to be hung horizontal side by side. I think she is on to something.  San Simeon Beach , Cambria , CaliforniaI would like to share two of my ocean watercolor paintings that have been beautifully framed and displayed in their space. I'm very excited to share these together as it is a good example of two options for framing. Each painting is 22"x30" before framed. The top painting is classically all dressed up with a double cut mat to highlight the colors within the painting. The bottom, without a top mat so as to reveal the deckled edges characteristic of high quality watercolor paper by Arches. Most importantly each has been professionally framed with care to preserve the longevity of each painting with UV protection. Frames are the icing on the cake and brings together the personality of not only the painting, but also it's owner. A good framer knows how to enhance the painting without distraction or that takes away from the artwork. From the artist view point of my pieces I couldn't be happier the care and thought that went into perserving each piece. What do you think? If you have ever painted with watercolors you know they are unpredictable. That's the exciting part, all sorts of fun colors and shapes happen as the water finds it's place and sometimes it doesn't work out to well. When I began this piece I wanted to create a sky that was as powerful as the ocean. This original piece is now available.  Tennessee Valley Is a beautiful offshoot of the Marin Headlands in California's Golden Gate National Recreation Park. The trail runs 1.7 miles from the parking lot to the beach. I began documenting some of our hikes with small oil paintings back in 2018. Some how I got sidetracked away from painting landscapes. My last two Cambria beach paintings has renewed that desire to start back up again.

This is also available in Giclee prints in large format 40"x60".  New Beginning - hard edge geometric oil painting by Victoria Kloch I'm super excited about my newest series of minimal geometrics. This piece is only the beginning. When I create my compositions, there is a lot of things to consider. The balance of color and shape placement is intentional. Every shape with it's color has to work together in harmony from the tip top corners that must work with the bottom corners and throughout using everything in between. My love for these pieces is driven by the challenge each piece presents itself. Now here's the test that they do work as great design. As I studied my complicated works I found vignettes that can stand on their own. I am over top, brimming with joy to get started on these colorful minimal hard edge abstracts. This one is my first. I wonder how many painters have thought about painting with black as the predominant color. Some I know of, but not many. I'm going to document this as my pandemic piece. I guess you might say that I had a lot of things going through my mind that day. To start with, I had a finished painting that I had been wanting to paint over for a while. It was a spatter painting with a lot of spatter textures so I was limited on what I could place over it. I hadn't painted a color field for a while so I thought this would be perfect. It turn out much better then I expected and at night the white on this piece glows. To sum it up. My dark day turned out much brighter then I though possible. I don't actually know why, maybe it's the movement, the colors, the intentional design with hard edge shapes. I'm in love! I haven't felt so satisfied with one of my pieces. This one is small and I will defiantly go big with this one. I feel so totally inspired with endless possibilities using this composition. Here in Alameda county, California we just got word that we will be on lockdown presumably till the end of May. Being sheltered means little to me as I spend most of my time willingly self absorbed in my work at home. This is my nature, but still I'm finding it hard to focus.. I'm hearing from others who are painters, that I am not a lone in feeling this way. Hang in there everyone, you are not a lone. Now and Zen This commission was re-created from a small painting I made back in 2014. The one you see here is 48"x60" and will be on it's way to New York today. Did I say how much I love commission work? Well I do! Palette used blues, wheat yellow, grays, deep green and aqua.  |
